Welcome to East Valley Hospital Medical Center Library and Resource Center. We have established this library in order to provide various resources to our staff and medical staff. The library is composed of electronic and print sources for reference in clinical as well as non-clinical healthcare issues. Use of Library East Valley Hospital Medical Center staff is authorized to use the Library and Resource Center. Borrowing privileges of published resources is limited to East Valley Hospital Medical Center Medical staff and employees. Borrowing of Materials To borrow material from our library; you must complete a library request form and bring with your medical staff/employee i.d. number. Print material is limited to two weeks loan period. Web based sites and resources were formulated in order to facilitate access via internet. Strict compliance to website regulations must be followed when visiting such websites. Authorized Medical Staff may request for specific literature by filling out a request form. Our Library service coordinator will facilitate processing these requests in a timely manner. Please allow three days for status of your request. Library Service Coordinator In order to facilitate research or borrowing of print sources, the hospital has appointed a library service coordinator to assist you in using or locating specific material requested. The library service coordinator is located in the Medical Staff Office. Hours for requests Requests for resources can be made at the Medical Staff office between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Donations Donations to the library are greatly appreciated. The library service coordinator will submit the description of the material donated to M.E.C. for approval. Donated material must fit criteria for appropriateness, relevance and current status as outlined in our library “Availability of Professional Material” Policy. Interlibrary Loan Service If an article or book you are requesting for your work in the hospital is not available; the library service coordinator may be able to assist you. Please fill out the request and allow 72 hours to locate and borrow from another library. If material is not located you will be notified. Copyright and Fair Use Information As with all materials and journals we must abide by Copyright laws and Fair Use Information. Materials, articles and journals may be copyrighted but sometimes they may not be copyrighted. "Fair use" lets you use their things - but not as much as you would like to. You may have to ask permission from the company or author in order to use their material or resource. You need to keep in mind these types of issues when accessing images, illustrations, publications, etc. on the Internet and elsewhere!
